Exhibition: ANBD 2025 Regular Exhibition – Tokyo (August)
Theme: Seeing, Feeling, and Living in Asia
Medium: Photography + Digital Editing (Adobe Photoshop)
Description:
Future of the Past reimagines a familiar Seoul landmark through a striking blend of traditional architecture and modern urban symbolism. Photographed at Namsan Tower and transformed through digital color manipulation, the work creates a surreal visual dialogue between history and futurity.
The vivid, unconventional palette reframes the scene beyond realism, emphasizing how Asia is constantly reshaped by shifting perspectives, cultural overlap, and emotional experience. The contrast between the traditional Korean pavilion at the bottom and the futuristic tower rising above symbolizes the co-existence of heritage and progress—key elements of living in contemporary Asia.
By altering tones and atmosphere, the piece invites viewers to see the city not just as a physical space, but as a layered cultural memory. It reflects how the past continues to shape the present, and how the future grows from the foundations of tradition.
Exhibition Context:
Presented at the ANBD 2025 Tokyo Exhibition, this work contributes to the theme Seeing, Feeling, and Living in Asia by capturing both the emotional resonance of place and the evolving identity of modern Asian cities.
